Permits
Permits are required prior to completing any radioactive work on campus. To request a permitÌýafter reviewing the Radiation Safety Program complete the Application for Permit FormÌýand email to radiation@uwaterloo.caÌýto start the permitting process.
Training
Those working with radiation at the University must complete the following:
- ÌýAn online training module that outlines the basic principles of working safely with radioactive materials and devices. Choose the online module based on the source you are working with. If you are unsure which to take, discuss with you supervisor.Ìý
- Working With Radiation - Open Sources (SO2030-O)
- Working With Radiation - Sealed SourcesÌý(SO2030-S)
- Basic practical radiation safety training (provided by the Safety Office)
- Contact the Safety Office to book your one-on-one training session after completingÌýWorking With Radiation (SO2030).
- Laboratory specific practical radiation safety training (provided by the principal investigator)

Permit Holders and their lab managers may confirm their approved workersÌýon the .
