Congratulations to Prof. Ori Friedman, who has been named a recipient of the 2023 Arts Award for Excellence in Research. This award recognizes the quantity, quality, and impact of faculty members’ research programs as well as their leadership in the field. As noted in his nomination letter, Ori’s interdisciplinary perspective enriches his students’ training and fosters a culture of cross-area collaboration in the Department and cross-department collaboration in Faculty.

Congratulations to Michelle Korlacka, Amie Durston, and Sarah Towers who are the recipients of the 2022-2023 TA Award from the Council of Canadian Departments of Psychology! This award recognizes their dedication to providing exceptional learning experiences for undergraduate students through their TA’ships this past year.

Congratulations, Dr. Hilary Bergsieker on being named the recipient of the 2023 Faculty Association of the University of ��ݮ��Ƶ (FAUW) Equity and Inclusivity Award. This award was inaugurated in 2012 and is meant to “support individuals or groups who have demonstrated an exemplary commitment to improving equity, inclusivity, and/or diversity at the University of ��ݮ��Ƶ.”

Congratulations to Dr. Christine Purdon, who will begin her term as the President of the (CACBT) this weekend. Christine will be recognized at the Annual General Meeting of the CACBT conference taking place May 4-6 in Halifax.

Clinical psychology graduate students Jasmine Zhang, Charlotte Aitken, and Aliya McNeil presented an interactive workshop on Teens and Social Relationships on April 21, 2023 for guidance counselors and educators with the ��ݮ��Ƶ Region District School Board. 

“The ability to discern whether other people are likely to be affiliated is crucial in everyday life,” said Ori Friedman, co-author and Professor of Developmental Psychology at the University of ��ݮ��Ƶ. “When an adult joins a new workplace, or a child joins a new classroom, these judgments help them assess whether people are friends.”

Yesterday, Clinical psychology graduate students from the University of ��ݮ��Ƶ Rebecca Trossman, Mahsa Sadeghi Janbahan, and Aleece Katan presented an engaging, informative, and interactive workshop on brain-based factors for health aging to a capacity crowd of 40 seniors at the Forest Height Public Library.  The presentation reviewed normative age-related changes in brain functioning, tips to promote brain health across the lifespan, and behavioral signs that additional assessment may be warranted.  Audience response was highly positive and lively, with many contributions,
