Tutte Hall of Fame Induction

The late Professor William Tutte was inducted into the À¶Ý®ÊÓÆµ Region Hall of Fame today. This honour is a tribute to the ' accomplishments and outstanding contributions to the community.

Putnam Results 2015

The results of the have arrived.

The top 5 universities were as follows.

1. Massachusetts Institute of Technology 2. Carnegie Melon University 3. Princeton University 4. Stanford University 5. Harvard University.

The next 5 universities, in alphabetical order, were University of California-Los Angeles, Duke University, Harvey Mudd College, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and Washington University at St Louis.

Ian VanderBurgh
has won the 2016 Canadian Mathematical Society (CMS) Excellence in Teaching Award.

"Ian joins an elite group of math educators," says nominator Serge D'Alessio. "The only other À¶Ý®ÊÓÆµ faculty member to receive this prestigious award was back in 2007."

Big E and Special K contests 2015

The Big E and Special K contests were held on Saturday November 7th. These are mathematics contests for undergraduate University of À¶Ý®ÊÓÆµ students.

The Special K contest is for 1st year students and the Big E contest is for upper year students.

Both contests consist of 6 problems, and complete written solutions are required.

This year, 35 students participated.

Fall Convocation 2015

At 2:30 this afternoon, 180 students from Environment and 575 students from Mathematics will receive their degrees. Students in the Software Engineering program will graduate with the Faculty of Mathematics.
