Pride Month 2025 - Reflections

During the Community Corner hosted by the Office of EDI-R, this is where we wanted to center our reflections on Pride Month and Pride events on campus. What is the story of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community in Kitchener-ݮƵ? What did community, progress, and dissent look like before, during, and after calls for legal recognition and equality? And what do milestones and celebration for the community look like outside of institutional acceptance?

ճTrans and Non-Binary Equity Strategy was informed and co-created by members of our 2SLGBTQIA+ communities—students, staff, and faculty who showed deep courage in sharing their experiences and speaking up in the hope of sustainable change. They didn’t just point to problems—they helped imagine solutions. They spoke up not only for themselves, but for those who couldn’t, or didn’t feel safe enough to. That is leadership. That is community in action.

As of June 2, 2025, University of ݮƵ students and employees have the option to set or add pronouns (i.e., words we use to replace someone’s name in a sentence, such as “he”, “she”, or “they”) to their (the card with your picture or initials in the circle). It may take up to 24 hours before this feature is visible on your Microsoft 365 profile card.

Cycles, Cramps, and Cravings… Oh My! Nutrition for Menstrual Wellness

A part of the Menstrual Equity Lunch and Learn Series.

Back by popular demand! In this online presentation, Courtney Wilson, MScFN RD (she/her) will dive into all things nutrition, menstruation, and hormones. We will look at how the phases of the menstrual cycle can impact physical symptoms, intake patterns, and nutrient needs and chat about strategies to support these needs. There will be time for a Q&A to ensure all your burning questions are answered!

About your host:

Courtney is a Registered Dietitian (RD) and has been practicing clinically since 2015. She currently works as the RD on the Campus Wellness team, meeting with students in individual and group-based settings to provide supportive, inclusive, and evidence-based nutrition care. On the clinical side of things, Courtney is passionate about digging into food relationships and food-related experiences, as well as supporting those who may struggle with these elements of life. Personally, Courtney is an avid home cook, loves to golf, and is (just slightly) obsessed with her Bernedoodle, Ellis.
