About us

A message from the AVP Equity, Diversity, Inclusion & Anti-Racism

Dr. Christopher Stuart Taylor

Welcome to the Office of Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Anti-Racism (EDI-R). Our Office was built—and continues to flourish—because of the commitment, energy and advocacy of partners across campus who are committed to strengthening a culture of inclusion at the University of À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ. As the AVP, I am committed to supporting our team in continuing to build partnerships across the University, so together we can continue to lead transformative culture changes, disrupt oppressive systems, dismantle institutional barriers, and embed anti-racism and equity in policies, processes, environments, and experiences on campus.

I’m proud to work alongside subject-matter experts who combine deep knowledge of equity, anti-racism, oppression, and settler colonialism with a genuine understanding of the communities we serve. Grounded in insights into how colonial and predominantly white institutional structures operate—and how to transform them—our team brings dedication and care to every conversation, challenge, and partnership.

Looking ahead, our focus over the next year will be guided by the 2025–2026 Strategic Plan. This plan outlines projects that support diverse identities, strengthens inclusion by ensuring individuals have resources to thrive, and equip our community with the knowledge and confidence to champion inclusion.

Goal 1: Establish and sustain a reliable space.

Goal 2:  Develop and Deliver Innovative Programs and Services

Goal 3:  Cultivate a Healthy Workplace Environment

Goal 4:  Demonstrate Sustainability, Meaning, and Impact.

Learn more about these goals here.

We will continue to evolve in ways that best support members of our communities and turn to you as co-creators in this work to build, incubate, and enhance equity and anti-racism competency and capacity across campus.

I invite you to explore this website to learn about the initiatives our units are working on and look forward to connecting with you, in-person or virtually.
