Login into Quest, follow the steps to accept your offer and be aware of any outstanding conditions in your offer of admission.

ݮƵ Grad Ready

After you accept your offer,you willreceive an emailfrom GRAD READY. This is aprogramrun by gradstudents, for grad students, through the Student Success Office.It’sall about helpingyou transition to being a graduate studentat the University of ݮƵ. In the weeks before you beginclass,you can connect with other new grad students, preparefor academics and get ready for life at ݮƵ.​ċ

To ensure a smooth transition, you should be aware of the following resources and important dates:​

Once you accept your offer, your status on Quest will change to “Intent to matriculate” which means now you can follow the steps to become “fees arranged” (pay your tuition) and then register for courses.

1. Fulfil conditions of your Offer (if applicable)

Any conditions of the offer are clearly laid out on the first page of your offer of admission letter, please read it carefully. In Quest, there is also a “conditions” area that outlines any and all conditions to be fulfilled. These are automatically marked as complete when the conditions are fulfilled.

International Students

We do not issue a second offer of admission letter once the Admission Conditions (i.e. official transcripts/diploma) are satisfied. If needed, you can take a snapshot of your Student Centre showing all conditions are satisfied. In an effort to expedite the process, we recommend you begin the process of applying for a study permit using your offer letter as soon as possible.

The Letter of Acceptance accompanies the Offer of Admission and department program information to the University of ݮƵ. Provide these documents to a Canadian Embassy, High Commission, or Consulate and apply for a Study Permit. Details are published online by Citizenship and Immigration Canada at

The Letter of Acceptanceis in compliance with the standardized letter of acceptance produced by Citizenship and ImmigrationCanada to be filled out by educational institutions. 2. Become "Fees Arranged"​

Fees areassessed and postedto individual student accounts on Quest approximately three to five weeks prior to thestart of lectures each term, for the fall term this will be during the first week of August,and students will be notifiedby e-mail at that time. Once your fees are paid, you will have the status of “Fees Arranged”.​

Find out about the different ways to make payment through theStudent Financial Serviceswebsite. Once awards,scholarships, and other funding for the fall from your supervisor, department or other sources are processed, you canbecome “Fees Arranged” throughQuest.​

For those who have satisfied their conditions of admission, matriculation (make you activeinto your program to pay fees and enroll courses)takes place approximately six weeks prior to the beginning of the term. The matriculationprocess continues to take place on a rolling basis as conditions of admission are satisfied.

If you were given a conditional admission, those cconditions must be satisfied before we can matriculate you and your Fees Arranged deadline will be 10 business days after those conditionsare met.

Note: If you are considering deferring, please connect with your department coordinator and supervisor (ifapplicable) before paying your fees.​

3. Register for courses​:

Students who have become “Fees Arranged” can register for courses and can start to add or drop coursesthroughQuestfrom this point onwards.​

To ensure you havea spot in your top-class choices, we encourage you to register as soon as youcan.​For students in PhD andMASc, we encourage you to consult with your supervisor beforemaking your course selections

Course selection also opens typically the first week of the month before the term begins. Forexample, for spring (May)course enrolment open April 1st.​For information about course selection, please visitGPSA Course Enrolmentpage and find the Engineering course optionshere.

4. Complete Required training:​

Once you have set up yourWatIAM user IDand are matriculatedyou can complete the mandatory training.​

  • Department Graduate Safety Workshop: All graduate students who are going to work in labs must complete the Graduate Safety Workshop within their first two terms. Typically, the delivery of this workshop ins online through.The students must review the Department’s safety manual and comply with its policies, procedures, rules and instructions. Please contact theGraduate Coordinator of your programto receive access to the course.

IMPORTANT:You may be required to take additional hazard-specifictraining courses, depending on your research or lab access(granted by your supervisor).​


Please note:If you will be requiring a lab key, you will need to find out from your supervisor what additional safetytraining is required. The additional training must be completed well before being assigned a lab key.​
