Thanks to a donation from MNP LLP, a group of Indigenous youth attending the DIRECTIONS conference with the 蓝莓视频 Indigenous Student Centre (WISC) had front row seats for baseball history at Rogers Centre on May 8.
St. Paul鈥檚 Distinguished Alumnus, Sean Murphy, Regional Managing Partner with MNP helped arrange 30 tickets for the DIRECTIONS conference for Indigenous youth hosted by St. Paul鈥檚 and WISC. A group including their chaperones and several student mentors cheered on the home team with signs reading #TeamMNP and #LetsRise hoping the Blue Jays players would generate some offense.
Unfortunately for the Blue Jays, Seattle Mariners starting pitcher James Paxton made history when he became the second Canadian player in Major League Baseball (MLB) to toss a complete game no-hitter; the first on Canadian soil.
听The lack of home-team scoring didn鈥檛 bother the group from St. Paul鈥檚. No-hitters are rare, occurring on average once every 720 games, being there to witness history was an added bonus, especially for the half of the group who had never attended an MLB game before. One of the youth expressed their thanks to MNP for a 鈥済em of a game, which after all was flawless鈥.
