This program is a partnership between the University of À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ's Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Anti-Racism Office (EDI-RO), Black Studies, and United College. It will be a unique experience that combines academics, community-building and exploration of campus life to help students thrive when they enter University.

Program details
Date: July 20 - August 1, 2025Ìý
Location: United College, University of À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ
Eligibility: Participant must have successfully completed at least Ontario Grade 11 (or equivalent).
Application deadline: June 9, 2025 (NOW CLOSED)
Participants will stay in double-room accommodations at United College, and all meals are included at Watson's Eatery.ÌýFull bursaries are available through United College for students with financial need. Please indicate that you would like to be considered for financial aid when you apply.
The Course: Social Innovation 201Ìý
At the University of À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ, creativity and problem-solving are at the heart of the student experience. Through Social Innovation 201, Sankofa participants will explore how Black entrepreneurs and changemakers have tackled real-world challenges and created lasting impact in their communities.
In this interactive, hands-on course, students will:

Study powerful case studies of Black-led social entrepreneurship.

Learn how innovation can drive positive change in society.

Work in teams to complete a design sprint to help developÌýsolutions to real challenges faced by Black communities today.

Gain valuable skills in leadership, teamwork, and creative thinking.
