Salary negotiations are now concluded, with the settlement outlined below. We will be hosting a Town Hall in May to discuss further details and next steps. The purpose of this communication is to give a quick overview of the settlement, some context of how it was reached, and important considerations for determining next steps for FAUW in the wake of this round of negotiations.

Anne Innis Dagg, a groundbreaking Canadian zoologist, feminist, and environmentalist, passed away on April 1, 2024. Anne received her PhD in animal behaviour from the University of À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ in 1967 and was affiliate with the Independent Studies program.Ìý

FAUW has received several concerns from members about the Changes to Parking Services and fees announced March 20. We are also monitoring the response to this announcement on social media.Ìý

We want to thank our members for their overwhelming engagement on this topic and for bringing these concerns to the FAUW Board and staff.Ìý

FAUW is looking into this process further, along with member concerns about these changes. We hope to have more to report by our Spring General Meeting on April 9.Ìý

The FAUW Equity Committee is currently seeking nominations for the 2024 Equity & Inclusivity Award.

Inaugurated in 2012, the Equity & Inclusivity Award recognizes a member, group, or affiliate of the University of À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ community. The award is meant to further support individuals or groups who have demonstrated an exemplary commitment to improving equity, inclusivity, and/or diversity at University of À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ.Ìý

FAUW is seeking nominations for five FAUW Board Directors, representing the faculties of Arts, Engineering, Environment, Health, and Science.Ìý Nominations close at 4 p.n. on March 13, 2024

The revised Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) between FAUW and the University, in support of the Policy 76/77 agreement, has passed by a majority vote of FAUW’s voting members. Turnout was over 65% of voting members.Ìý

This vote required a double majority by lecturers and professors to ratify the changes to the MoA. The results by rank are as follows: 

• 94% of voting lecturers were in favour of ratification 

• 88.6% of voting professors were in favour of ratification 

• 90.1% of all voters were in favour of ratification

These results mean that the changes to Policy 76/77 agreed to in December 2023 can move forward. The next step is for these policies to be approved by the Board of Governors at their April meeting.Ìý

The changes outlined in Policy 76/77 will come into effect September 1, 2024.Ìý
