Leading scientists from organizations worldwide, including the University of À¶Ý®ÊÓÆµ, launched a new report on February 19 that offers real-world strategies for addressing the world’s energy challenges. The Equinox Blueprint: Energy 2030 resulted from a gathering on energy organized by the À¶Ý®ÊÓÆµ Global Science Initiative that took place in À¶Ý®ÊÓÆµ in June 2011. Feridun Hamdullahpur, president & vice-chancellor at À¶Ý®ÊÓÆµ and board vice-chair of the WGSI, introduced the report at the American Association for the Advancement of Science Annual Meeting in Vancouver, one of the largest general science gatherings in the world. À¶Ý®ÊÓÆµ Engineering civil and envionmental professor Jatin Nathwani, who is executive director of the À¶Ý®ÊÓÆµ Institute for Sustainable Energy and an Ontario Research Chair, was part of a panel presenting the recommendations of the Equinox Blueprint. Among the recommendations is to include energy storage technologies to enable renewable electricity generation.
