A long-time former professor, department chair and associate dean at ݮƵ Engineering is being remembered for his many contributions to his profession, the University of ݮƵ, the Province of Ontario and the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council.
Thomas Brzustowski, who joined the Faculty as a mechanical engineering professor in 1962, died June 19 after a brief illness.

Thomas Brzustowski was a ݮƵ Engineering professor for 25 years.
Brzustowski held several senior leadership posts at the University, including service as its first provost, before leaving ݮƵ in 1987 for a position as deputy minister of the Ministry of Colleges and Universities.
During the recent COVID-19 pandemic, according to his , he and his wife of 56 years, Louise, “took to walking together on the empty UW campus every day … Tom fending off the campus geese with a walking stick, a gentleman to the end.”
