Dr. Kankar Bhattacharya is the 2024 recipient of the from the (IEEE) Canada.
The IEEE is the world's largest technical professional organization dedicated to advancing technology for the benefit of humanity. The medal won by Bhattacharya recognizes outstanding Canadian engineers who have made important contributions to the field of electric power engineering.
Bhattacharya joined the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ in 2003, where currently serves as the department’s chair. He is a University Research Chair and a Fellow of the IEEE.
His research interests include power system operations, planning and economics; electricity market operations and design; renewable energy resources and their economics, planning and operational issues; demand side management, demand response, and various emerging problems in the smart grid environment.
The award will be presented at an awards gala in August as part of IEEE’s flagship conference, the in Kingston, Ontario.
