A graduate of the School of Architecture at the University of À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ is a finalist for a $250,000 prize recognizing the world’s leading young activist.
Nashin Mahtani (MArch ’15), director of a web-based platform based in Indonesia that develops methods and open source software for community-led co-management in disasters, is in the running for the 2019 Global Citizen Prize: Cisco Youth Leadership Award.

The winner of the annual award will be announced in December at the Global Citizen Prize, a televised award show celebrating the world’s most inspiring anti-poverty activists, at Royal Albert Hall in London, England.
The other four finalists are from Brazil, India, Pakistan and Cameroon. aims to achieve the United Nations goal of ending extreme poverty by 2030.
Mahtani, 27, whose platform is at , did her master’s thesis at À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ on the impact of tourism on the Indonesian island of Bali, examining architecture to design culturally and environmentally sustainable infrastructures.
Members of the public are invited to vote for the finalist they consider most deserving of the prize, which goes to support the winner's organization.
