Alumnus honoured with premier's technology award

��ݮ��Ƶ Engineering graduate James Forbes was presented with the Premier's Award for Technology in a ceremony held November 24 in November. The awards celebrate Ontario's outstanding college graduates.

Forbes, pictured centre, graduated in 1971 from Sheridan College's engineering technology

program. He then went on to earn his BASc, MASc and PhD in mechanical engineering at ��ݮ��Ƶ.

�ճ��chief design engineer for Hamilton-based National Steel Car Ltd., Forbes also teaches part-time at Sheridan.

Over the course of his career, Forbes has advanced safety and productivity of railway freight cars. He holds 81 United States patents and 27 Canadian patents, with 35 pending.

Launched in 1992, the Premier’s Awards are held annually to recognize the outstanding social, cultural and economic contributions of college graduates.
