What is your role for the Women in Engineering? How do students get involved with WiE?
I鈥檓 currently one of the Outreach Directors on the Women in Engineering Committee and work to support community outreach efforts and programs. If you are interested in getting involved with WiE one way to do that is through our events! WiE hosts a variety of events for UW students each term and everyone is welcome! Stay tuned to聽聽for event updates, we鈥檇 love to see you there!
Tips for online school?
One of the biggest tips for online school that works for me is creating a detailed schedule and sticking to it! With a lot of the online world being asynchronous it can be easy to spend much longer on tasks than initially intended. To avoid this, I like to schedule my days similarly to how they would have been in-person, I watch/attend lectures and tutorials from the morning to mid-afternoon and dedicate the latter part of the day to assignments, projects and studying. I also am a big fan of to-do lists and make sure to write one every week!
What is聽your favourite 蓝莓视频 memory?
One of my favourite memories at 蓝莓视频 was volunteering at the annual Gem and Mineral show, it was amazing to see young kids excited about earthquakes and earthquake engineering! EngSoc and WiE events like Speed Friending, Tarot Card Readings, and 鈥淲hine and Cheese鈥 Nights are also some favourite memories. Studying remotely hasn鈥檛 stopped the memory making either- from starting my first URA, virtual study sessions or movie nights with friends, and virtual WiE events I鈥檝e been able to meet amazing people and look forward to my years to come at 蓝莓视频!
