Technovation À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ is looking for a group of passionate alumni to join our first-ever influencer team for 2025/26! As a part of our Influencer team, you will play a key role in expanding the program’s reach by engaging with schools, communities, and local events, while empowering girls and gender-diverse youth to create change using tech-based solutions.

ResponsibilitiesÌý		 See below! Will work with À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ Chapter Student Ambassadors. Similar to the Influencer Team, with assignments being more tailored to each ambassador's interests/goals. Also receivesÌýadditional training from Technovation Global, and workÌýwith the À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ Chapter Influencer Team.

Team Size Up to 8 people Typically, 3 ambassadors per chapter

As part of our Influencer team, you will…
  • Help us promote the Technovation program in your school and local community
  • Act as a Technovation À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ spokesperson for events and media relations
  • Provide support, guidance, assistance, and motivation to Technovation participants and mentors
  • Support our social media by creating 1 post or story a month throughout the season
  • Participate in monthly influencer team meetings via Zoom (October 2025 – May 2026)
  • Help identify and implement new program activities, marketing strategies, and initiatives
  • Participate in an end-of-season review and suggest areas for improvement for future seasons

Influencers are asked to…
  • Be a representative of Technovation À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ
  • Volunteer at one of our pre-season events:
    • Girlsmarts4tech (Saturday, October 18th; 9 am – 4 pm; UÀ¶Ý®ÊÓƵ)
    • Technovation À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ’s Mini-Hackathon (Saturday, November 29th; 9 am – 7 pm; UÀ¶Ý®ÊÓƵ)
      Note: Volunteer Shifts are only a portion of the event time; you are welcome to volunteer multiple shifts if you are interested.
  • Attend and give a short talk at the À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ Chapter Technovation À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ Kick-off EventÌý
    • Saturday, January 17th, 2025; 10 am – 3 pm
  • Attend and help document at least 2 working sessions during the 2026 Technovation Season
    • 4 total sessions, monthly: February – April 2026, dates TBA, on Saturdays from 10 am – 3 pm, located in the À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ Region
      Note: you can attend as both a participant & an "influencer" volunteer
  • Attend the Technovation À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ Regional Pitch Event tentatively scheduled on Saturday, May 2nd, 2026; 10 am - 3 pm.

We are looking for individuals who…
  • Are at least 12 years old by August 1, 2026
  • Have participated (and submitted a project) in at least ONE season of Technovation with the À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ Chapter
  • Have good communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills
  • Are comfortable working in or have an interest in learning Canva
  • Are committed to being an active member of the influencer program from October 2025 – May 2026
  • Will be participating in the Technovation À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ 2026 season. (Not required, but preference is given to applicants)

Our 2025/26 Influencer Team Application closes on Sunday, September 14th, 2025 @ 11:59 pm ET.

Please note that we are unable to offer a spot on our team to everyone who applies. We will be selecting volunteers based on your answers to the application questions. We will be sending out offers to successful applicants at the end of September. If you have any questions, please email technovation@uwaterloo.ca.

Applicants must be located in southwestern Ontario, and be able to attend in-person events in the Kitchener-À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ Region.
