More than 70 departments were represented at the Workday Mini Town Hall, hosted by Human Resources on November 27. The event provided employees with an opportunity to learn more about training, resources, and support through the transition to the new HR system.

For the third year in a row, the University of À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ was recognized as one of Canada's Top 100 Employers (2019) and À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ Area's Top Employers (2019). The recipients of the national annual award were announced in The Globe and Mail on November 9th.ÌýThe UniversityÌýwas recognized for striving to beÌýnot onlyÌýone of the most innovative universities in the world, but also one of the most employee-focused.ÌýÌý

Due to the transition to Workday in January, 2019, there will be a number of systemÌýshutdowns duringÌýend-of-year. Please see the chart below for details. On October 16^th, Human Resources, in partnership with St. Jerome’s University hosted the next in a 2018 series of Lean workshops: Personal Kanban, Mapping your work through Lean.

The Accessibility Committee has put together a Multi-Year Accessibility Plan (MYAP) for the University of À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ. Creating and maintaining a campus that is welcoming for everyone impacts students, staff and faculty. The MYAP is an on-going initiative that will require continued collaboration to ensure that accessibility considerations are embedded within the University’s culture. It is intended to support and align with our commitments under Policy 58: Accessibility and meet our obligations under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA).

Human Resources is dedicated to providing quality service through an improved website to increase client satisfaction. All employees (Faculty, Staff, CUPE, retirees) are invited toÌýjoin a User Experience Research Group to participate in any or all of the following: surveys, questionnaires,Ìýobservational research, andÌýusability testing. If you’re interested in participating,Ìýplease register to join the User Experience Research Group. LunchÌýwill be provided to employees who participate in our observational research and usability testing. Ìý

The Ontario government has reinstated the prior public holiday pay formula that pre-dated Bill 148. The old formula should be used again beginning on July 1, 2018 and will continue to be used until December 31st, 2019.

Please be advised that the upcoming Victoria Day holiday will be paid using the Bill 148 calculation. The Canada Day holiday and all holidays until December 31^st, 2019 will use the prior ESA calculation.
