You鈥檝e discovered your dream major in recreation and now you鈥檙e ready to apply. Here鈥檚 what you need to know about the process.
First, some background
Recreation and Leisure Studies is home to three majors:
- Sport and Recreation Management
- Therapeutic Recreation
- Recreation, Leadership, and Health
While these majors differ in their focus, they all fall under the umbrella of Recreation and Leisure Studies! Why? Because they share a common goal of making the world a happier, healthier place through recreation and leisure programs, businesses, events, and services.
Though each of the majors has its own courses and degree requirements, you鈥檒l get to know the students outside your major through some common courses, like REC 120 Experience Design and Delivery.
Universities may use some unfamiliar terminology. Here are a few helpful definitions.
Entry program: the program you will select on the Ontario Universities鈥 Application Centre (OUAC) website when starting your application.
Major: the subject that鈥檚 the main area of focus for your degree. For Recreation and Leisure Studies, you鈥檒l choose your major right when you apply.

Applying, admission, and getting started
So, you鈥檙e looking for your chosen recreation major on the OUAC programs list and you can鈥檛 find it. What鈥檚 going on? Here鈥檚 a step-by-step guide:
