Fall convocation at ݮƵ Engineering brought together graduates, families and faculty to celebrate the accomplishments of more than 500 students earning their degrees.

Degrees were conferred in a single ceremony held on Saturday, October 25, including 130 undergraduate, 323 master’s and 57 PhD graduates, each recognized for their academic achievements and perseverance.

The ceremony was marked by moments of pride and reflection as speakers encouraged graduates to carry the spirit of curiosity, collaboration and innovation that defines ݮƵ Engineering into the next chapters of their lives.

“This is a day of joy, pride and reflection,” said Dr. Carolyn MacGregor, associate dean, teaching and student experience and systems design engineering professor, who delivered the convocation address. “Each of you has taken on challenges that demanded perseverance, ingenuity and heart. You have pushed boundaries in your disciplines — conducting research that opens new doors, shaping designs that are sustainable and human-centered, and developing technologies that respond to society’s most pressing needs”.

MacGregor reminded graduates that their impact extends beyond campus. “What you have accomplished here matters far beyond ݮƵ,” she said. “The challenges you’ve taken on — from climate resilience to artificial intelligence, from sustainable design to health technologies — are among the defining issues of our time. And they will continue to shape the world you now step into as ݮƵ graduates.”

The valedictory address was delivered by Andrea Chakma (BASc '23, Mechatronics Engineering; MASc '25, Systems Design Engineering), who spoke on behalf of the graduating class, reflecting on the shared experiences, friendships and growth that shaped their time in the Faculty of Engineering.

The ceremony also recognized Matthew Erickson (BA '87), who was named Honorary Member of the University for more than four decades of leadership, advocacy and care for the campus community.

Congratulations to the Class of 2025!
