Two graduate students will represent the Faculty of Engineering on April 2, 2015 at the University of À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ's 3rd annual Three Minute Thesis (3MT) competition.ÌýCompetitors haveÌý1 static slideÌýandÌý3 minutesÌýto explain the breadth and significance of their research to a non-specialist audience.
Nineteen students from research-based master's and doctoral programs participated in the Faculty of Engineering qualifying heats, presenting their research to a diverse panel of judges.ÌýElaheÌýJabariÌý(PhDÌýcandidate, Mechanical) and AliÌýHaghiÌý(PhDÌýcandidate, Electrical) were selected to take part in the university-wide competition for a chance to win cash prizes and advance onto the provincial competition hosted by Western University.Ìý
TheÌý3MTÌýcompetition is an exciting way for students to enhance their presentation skills and deliver the impact of engineering research to a broad audience. During the qualifying heats, engineeringÌýpresentations covered a wide range of research, from micro-scaleÌý3DÌýprinting to improving wirelessÌýinternetÌýspeed.
Last year,ÌýPhD candidate MihaelaÌýVlasea,Ìýfrom Mechanical EngineeringÌýwas runner up in the 2014 university-wide competition. WatchÌý²Ñ¾±³ó±ð²¹±ô²¹â€™sÌýpresentation captured on video aboutÌýbuilding bionic bones usingÌý3DÌýprinting.
