The additive manufacturing facility at ݮƵ Engineering has partnered with two leading companies in the field to repair high-value aerospace components using titanium alloys.

The Multi-Scale Additive Manufacturing (MSAM) Laboratory is teaming up with the Nikon Corporation and Advanced Powders and Coatings (AP&C) on a project involving systems that will be the first of their kind in Canada.

Nikon will contribute advanced equipment to enable 3D printing with metal powders provided by AP&C for customized repairs of expensive aerospace parts, improving safety and reducing costs.

“This partnership will enable us to effectively develop intellectual property and train the next generation of engineers and researchers through industry-focused R & D,” Dr. Ehsan Toyserkani, the director of MSAM, said in a recent announcing the partnership.
