Mandatory Training for MEng, MASc, and PhD Students

Graduate students are required to complete certain mandatory training. For graduate students, this typically falls into three main categories:

  1. Health & Safety Training

  • All graduate students must complete mandatory health and safety training provided by the University of À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ and submit their training completion documentation to the Department.
  • Depending on your research activities, you may be required to complete further training, such as biosafety, chemical handling, radiation safety, and more. Please consult your supervisor for specific requirements.
  • Training modules are available through the University of À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ’s  platform. Students may self-register and complete the courses online. Note: You must have a valid University of À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ email address to access .
  • Additional details are available through the Safety Office.
  1. Academic Integrity Training

  • All graduate students must complete the Graduate Academic Integrity Module on À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ LEARN by the end of the second month of their first term. Failure to do so will prevent students from adding courses in their second term.

  1. Training for Teaching Assistants (TAs)

  • All teaching assistants are required to complete the ExpecTAtions, mandatory TA training offered over a two-week period to graduate students registered in the Faculty of Engineering. Students will be invited to self-register for ExpecTAtions_FOE by Jared Rank, Manager, Academic Services and Engagement.
