This award is presented to highlight the passion and commitment of individuals.

A University of À¶Ý®ÊÓÆµ student has placed second in the 2013 International Student Competition on Cold-Formed Steel Design, hosted by the University of North Texas (UNT) earlier this month.

Colin Van Niejenhuis, a civil engineering master's student, placed second behind Junle Cai from Virginia Tech and ahead of third-place winner Yu Gao, also of Virginia Tech.

Civil & Environmental Engineering Distinguished Emeritus Professor, Ralph Haas, will be receiving the U.S. National Research Council's Transportation Research Board's oldest and most distinguished award, the Roy W. Crum Distinguished Service Award, at their January 2014 Annual Meeting which attracts over 12,000 participants every year. Prof. Haas will be the second Canadian to receive this award in the last 65 years.

Mahsa Shayan attended the 11th Annual Groundwater GeoMontreal Conference held in Montreal on September 29th - October 3rd.

She was awarded with the 2013 Jozsef Toth Award for Best Student Paper in Canadian Hydrogeology.
