Michelle Liu carefully plans each hour of each day three weeks in advance to figure out where she needs to be and when.

Between volunteering up to 40 hours a month in several different roles on and off campus and keeping on top of her graduate studies, she constantly checks her changing calendar.

“I call it 80 productive hours a week, divided between volunteering and my studies,” Liu says with a laugh.

On Wednesday, March 20, fifteen of ݮƵ's top Three Minute Thesis (3MT) finalists from across six faculties gathered to compete in the university-wide final event in the Theatre of the Arts, ML. With topics ranging from the right to die for mature minors to the value of ornament in Architecture, the esteemed 3MT judges were challenged in selecting just two winners. Winning both First place and People’s Choice was Haya Almutairi from the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, who presented her research on self-healing asphalt pavements.

With the University of ݮƵ, hewas selected by the American Societyof Civil EngineersCommitteeon Technical Advancement as the recipient of the 2018 Associate Editor Award. The Award will be officially presented in Orlando Florida during the Structures Congress in April 2019.
