Shanghai Ranking Consultancy ranks UݮƵ ChE number one in Canada, in a tie with UofAlberta

The University of ݮƵ’s Department of Chemical Engineering is tied for first in Canada with the University of Alberta's Department of Chemical & Materials Engineeringin the 2020 , released by the .

The Shanghai Ranking Consultancy, which also publishes the prestigious Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU), is an independent organization dedicated to “research on higher education intelligence and consultation.” It has been using a transparent methodology and objective third-party data to rank and present the world’s top universitiessince 2003 and academic subjects since 2009.

The measures universities’ quality of education, faculty, research output and influence, as measured by citations.

Chemical Engineering Professor Ali Elkamel explains that “The fact that our 37-faculty member department tied for first with the University of Alberta’s Chemical and Materials Engineering department, which has more than 60 faculty members, is indicative of the volume of high-quality and influential chemical engineering research being conductedat the University of ݮƵ.”
