The University of À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ’s annual publication, Global Futures, was recently released with a packed launch event at Fed Hall featuring Faculty of Arts professors Dr. Bessma Momani and Dr. Marcel O’Gorman as speakers. The Global Futures publication itself features four Arts scholarship stories.

The Faculty of Arts has lost an outstanding alumna, Wendi Campbell, who passed away on January 15, 2024. Her social impacts included leading the Food Bank of À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ Region as CEO for more than 15 years. 

Distinguished Professor Emeritus John English has been named to the Order of Ontario in recognition of his significant contributions as a historian, author and administrator, including his work in bringing "history to life, shaping our understanding of our past and place in the world today."

The Faculty of Arts and Office of Research are convening an international, interdisciplinary conference, From Targeting in Academia to Promoting Trust and Understanding, June 27-28, 2024. This fall Arts welcomed AMTD Postdoctoral Fellow, Dr. Elena Caruso, who is based in the Department of Political Science. Dr. Caruso's research aims to question the role of the state in the regulation of abortion, to reshape dominant legal paradigms in abortion care, and to draw important lessons for the future of health technologies. 

Psychology professor and founder and chief principal investigator of the International Tobacco Control Policy Evaluation Project among 12 À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ researchers to make the list.

The Faculty of Arts is very proud to share that Dr. Sara A. Hart will hold the Canada Excellence Research Chair (CERC) in Developmental Science, based in the Department of Psychology. Hart is an expert in developmental psychology who is at the forefront of using precision education to understand how and why some children struggle to learn to read and do math.

Earning a PhD is an outstanding achievement that reflects dedication and countless hours of work, from attending classes and conducting research to teaching and writing papers. The work done by PhD graduates from the Faculty of Arts demonstrates that their studies aren't confined to books; they're geared towards making a difference in society.

The Arts Quad was filled with good vibes, solidarity and advocacy at The Urgency of Social Justice event on September 20. Presented by the Gender and Social Justice program, students, staff, faculty, and community members gathered to build awareness and strengthen support for social justice activities on campus and off.
