In a rapidly evolving technological landscape, the inclusion and success of women in the workplace is critical. This panel aims to empower students by discussing strategies for overcoming challenges and thriving in technology fields. Industry leaders and successful women in technology will share their experiences, insights, and advice on navigating the professional environment, advocacy, gender bias and stereotypes while fostering innovation, and building a supportive network.

Speakers:

Alexis Arellano is a systems developer for the ServiceNow platform at HOOPP. She joined HOOPP 3 years ago and has had the opportunity to work with and support most of the divisions within the organization.

Brenda Tinoco is Scrum Master and Team Lead for the Service Desk at HOOPP, managing and guiding the Service Desk team to provide exceptional support and service with over 10 years of experience in customer support. Holds a degree in Mechatronic Engineering from Mexico and migrated to Canada in 2015, bringing a diverse background and passion for empowering women in technology. 

Melissa Lanari, Senior Director, is an Information Technology professional with an extensive background in strategy development, change management, project management, digital transformation, data analytics and data governance. She has broad public and private sector experience working in several industries including finance, health care, mining and natural resources. She has demonstrated ability in leading and managing teams by collectively establishing the strategy, direction, and program execution for next-generation technology roadmaps. She uses data-driven insights to create momentum and successful business outcomes.
