For the purpose of this scholarship and confirmed through the Office of Equity, Diversity, Inclusion & Anti-Racism (EDI-R) Black students may include those of African, Caribbean, Black Canadian, Afro-Latine, African American, or other African descent.

Are you Indigenous?

For the purpose of this scholarship, an Indigenous person is one who is a citizen or member of a First Nations community (Status/Non-Status), Metis, and/or Inuit. To be considered for this award, students must have completed the Indigenous Verification section in Quest and have had their Indigenous identity verified by the Office of Indigenous Relations.

Applicant statement
Describe how you identify with your Black and/or Indigenous identity, and the ways in which your intersecting identities have contributed to your personal and academic growth (maximum 300 words).
Provide the awards committee with a detailed statement (up to 1,000 words), written in your own words, to explain why you are applying for this specific award and how you meet the award criteria, as stated in the award profile. Be sure to explain your connection and/or contributions to the Black or Indigenous community, as applicable, through extracurricular, volunteer, leadership or entrepreneurial-related experiences that you have been involved in within the last 3 years. Please include any plans for giving back to either community in the future. 
Describe any personal and professional goals you hope to achieve upon obtaining your graduate degree (maximum 150 words).
Describe how receiving this award to support your graduate studies would impact you (maximum 150 words).
Describe any career interruptions or personal challenges (e.g., racism, trauma, loss, socioeconomic constraints, etc.) that might have affected your academic performance or hindered your ability to attain non-academic extracurricular, volunteer, leadership or entrepreneurial-related experiences. (200 words max)
