Early research into the growing electronic sports (esports) industry highlights a need for better coaching to prevent burnout among professional players.

The study, conducted by researchers at the University of À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ, identified several areas, including player fatigue, mental stress and peak performance conditions, that require in-depth research to improve coaching and player performance.

Sanaz Saadatmand Hashemi, a systems design engineering doctoral candidate, is one of four recipients across campus of this year’s Amit and Meena Chakma Awards for Exceptional Teaching by a Student.

A teaching assistant for a number of engineering courses, Hashemi is described as approachable, conscientious, well-organized, understanding, and accommodating to all students both inside and outside of the classroom.

Devasted by what’s happening in Ukraine, a À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ Engineering alumnus with deep ties to the country is supporting its humanitarian relief efforts through sales of her vodka brand in Ontario liquor stores.

New technology has promising potential to improve cancer screening

A new form of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) that makes cancerous tissue glow in medical images could help doctors more accurately detect and track the progression of cancer over time.

The innovation, developed by researchers at the University of À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ, creates images in which cancerous tissue appears to light up compared to healthy tissue, making it easier to see.
