Food gardens

Overview

Food gardens provide a wonderful opportunity to grow food while also supporting community building, knowledge sharing, and placemaking. The University of À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ currently manages two food gardens - the V1 Food Garden, and the North Campus Community Garden.

V1 Food Garden

Located on the V1 Green, there are 10 raised beds (4x12' in size), with 8 beds that are 2 feet tall, and 2 beds that are 3 feet tall.ÌýThe beds are spaced 4 feet apart with wood chip paths and surround a picnic table. Due to site selection constraints, approximately 10 meters of sloped lawn must be crossed once off the paved path to get to the garden. Rain barrels are available at the garden for water access.

North Campus Community Garden

Located North-west of Columbia Lake, the North Campus Community Garden consists of 35 in-ground plots that are approximately 8x9' in size. Each plot is bordered by wood chip walking paths. Water access is available on-site. There is a parking lot adjacent to the garden, but we encourage the use of public and/or active transportation.Ìý

Note: more weed management is required at the North Campus Community Garden compared to the V1 Food Garden.
