Thursday, July 14, 2016

Organizations across À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ Region promoted cycling to work throughout June as part of a region-wide #BikeWR Campaign. ÌýWith over 2,200 tracked cycling trips, the University of À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ employee and student networks topped the local leaderboard!
À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ had over 97 cyclists participate in the on-campus Bike Challenge campaign throughout June, and they collectively tracked over 13,000 kilometers of cycling and saved over $4,400 on avoided driving costs and 3 tonnes of avoided greenhouse gas emissions.

There were prizes available, bike breakfasts and tune-ups, and a fun marketing campaign to thank cyclists for biking to work and school.

Cycling forms an important part of an affordable, healthy, and sustainable transportation network, and campaigns such as #BikeWRÌýhelp raise awareness and promote a culture that embraces cycling.

Special thanks to King Street Cycles for providing free bike tune-ups on campus, and to TravelWise for organizing the campaign.
