One new committee member is needed on the Staff Excellence Fund (SEF) Committee.
The聽Provost's Advisory Committee on Staff Compensation (PACSC)聽has delegated responsibility to the UWSA to bring forward proposals from staff for two portions of the Staff Excellence Fund: Engagement and Leadership Development, and Healthy Workplace Initiatives. The聽SEF committee works to generate, review, and recommend for approval staff-generated proposals for SEF funding.

What鈥檚 involved
This committee review proposals for SEF funding from staff members, provides advice for improvement where needed, and recommends proposals that are in alignment with the goals of the fund to PACSC. Committee members need to read submitted applications and various committee terms of reference documents in preparation for meetings.

Qualifications
The Staff Excellence Fund Committee functions best with members who are:
- Conscientious, collaborative, and equity minded.
- Excited about seeing staff apply their passions, expertise, and experience in new and valuable ways.
- Self-reflective and committed to challenging implicit biases.
- Willing to share their thoughts and opinions with the committee while holding space for the perspectives of others.
- Able to treat and discuss applications with sensitivity and confidentiality.
Familiarity with UW procurement policies and procedures is a nice bonus.
All UWSA members with an assigned USG will be considered, regardless of appointment type or contract end date.
Time commitment
The committee meets virtually approximately 4鈥5 times a year for one hour on an as-needed basis. Some reading preparation is required with (typically) 1鈥3 applications for review prior to each meeting. Applications vary in length but are typically 2鈥4 pages long.
Appointments are normally for a two-year term, renewable once at the discretion of the Committee Chair.
Participation rights and recognition
Members have a right to participate in UWSA business under the Memorandum of Agreement between the UWSA and the University: 鈥淭he University shall not interfere with the participation of Members in Association meetings or other Association business, provided that such participation does not unreasonably interfere with the performance of a Member's duties and other responsibilities to the University.鈥 (MoA section 2.6.3)
Upon request, committee members will receive a letter from the UWSA president and committee chair detailing their contributions to the working group and its value to the Association, for use in their performance appraisal.
Committee members will have access to general training provided to UWSA volunteers, support from the Operations Team, and a community of UWSA volunteers.
