President's Report: May 2025

More information about changes to performance recognition, salary increases, and the Nous Uniforum survey, plus the slides from our Navigating Job Loss workshop.

The UWSA Board of Directors called an election on March 28 to fill four director vacancies. Only three nominations were submitted by the deadline on April 10, so an election is not required; Mifrah Abid,ÌýLewis Fraser, and Sarah Landy will be acclaimed as directors, effective immediately, for remainder of the vacant terms.

To learn more about the role of the Board of Directors, please read our ‘UWSA 101’ series and our page on Being a UWSA Director.

President's Report: April 2025

An update on what we're doing to get you answers and reduce uncertainty during the University budget crisis, changes to salary increases, and upcoming events.

Please join us in congratulating the two new UWSA directors elected at today’s special meeting, Angela Rooke and Tim Ireland. Thank you to all four candidates for your willingness to step into this important role.

The UWSA Board of Directors now has quorum again and will meet next week to discuss next steps for filling the remaining vacancies; we expect to announce an election soon.

2024 Staff Enhancement Grant Stories

One of our favourite things in the UWSA office is getting a window into the lives of members through the Staff Enhancement Grant. Here are just a few stories from recent grant recipients about how they used the grant and what it meant to them.

To help us all understand each other better—and to offer staff a chance to have your voices heard—we’re launching a new blog and social media series featuring members’ own experiences and words.

Our posts amplifying the voices of contract staffÌý²¹²Ô»åÌýstaff with disabilities and/or chronic illness are now live!

We're currently from Black staff and staff who are caregivers.

What do you want to share about your experience working at UW? What should we all know about what you need to feel safe, empowered to grow, and able to thrive?
