Sociology and Legal Studies

Legal studies

Legal Studies at St. Jerome’s University offers an exciting interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approach to the study of what law is and how it operates in relation to political, social, economic, philosophical and cultural structures. Our courses and faculty research consider the way that law and legal institutions structure, and are structured by, systems of exclusion and marginalization rooted in colonial, capitalist, patriarchal frames, amongst other lines of inequality. Legal Studies fosters critical thinking, a drive for research and enquiry, and a commitment to civic engagement and social change. Legal Studies at St. Jerome’s University engages an active student body and is offered in partnership with the University of À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ.

Sociology

Sociology at St. Jerome’s University strives to understand human social life, from the ancient Socratic approach to questioning to contemporary critical theory to engagement with vital social issues. Our undergraduate and graduate programs foster critical thinking and a commitment to civic and social engagement through qualitative, interpretative, and quantitative research approaches and training. Sociology at St. Jerome’s University is offered in partnership with the University of À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ.
