Six researchers at the University of À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ have been awarded more than $7.5 million in funding to support their research.  

Kinesiology and Health Sciences Professor Lora Giangregorio has been awarded a Tier 1 Canada Research Chair (CRC) in Bone Health and Exercise Science, with a funding allotment of $1.4 million.

Sandra Klemet-N’Guessan, a postdoctoral fellow at the University of À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ, is the focus of an article published by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC). They sat down with her to talk about ecology, her field of study and her life as a francophone researcher in an anglophone environment.

A research project led by Institute for Quantum Computing (IQC) faculty Dr. David Cory, professor in the Department of Chemistry, has received $1 million to advance quantum metrological standards. 

In celebration of Black History Month, the University of À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ is shining a light on some of the inspirational Black researchers among the institution’s community. 

À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ awarded $5 million to accelerate sustainable additive manufacturing to support the creation of an industry-facing Consortium for Sustainable Scale-up in Metal Additive Manufacturing.

With funding from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), Dr. David Hammond is leading a new five-year study to determine how often Canadian youth are vaping and how the ingredients in vapes might be affecting lung health. The study will provide data on vaping behaviour, products, and biomarkers of exposure and potential harm, to help understand the impacts of youth vaping.

$1.3 million in funding for À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ researchers will support international collaboration between À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ and United Kingdom-based researchers to advance quantum communications and quantum sensing.

À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ Climate Institute at the University of À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ received $1.2 million from Natural Resources Canada to support two transformative projects integrating climate change adaptation into professional degree programs and developing tools to build resilient supply chains.
