Congratulations toÌýCarolyn Hansson, who will be honored with Distinguished Professor Emerita at Fall Convocation

The Distinguished Professor Emeritus/Emerita designation is made to faculty members who have had a distinguished record of service in teaching and research in the University. The honorary award is granted upon, or shortly after, retirement.

Dr. Jacqueline Noder recently completed a PhD in mechanical and mechatronics engineering. She previously did a master’s in engineering at À¶Ý®ÊÓÆµ.

Noder’s research focuses on formability characterization and prediction with through-thickness strain and stress gradients. Her research interests extend to the practical application of sheet metal forming and machining.

MME student finding her place in STEM

As the only female in her secondary school computer science class, Elin Liu felt the pressure of representing women in STEM. A scholarship provided by donors Yves and Cynthia Bled gave her a boost of confidence. Now, she wants to help other female engineering students find their place in STEM.

Jonathan Zhou, a first-year mechatronics engineering student, was recently selected as one of 30 semi-finalists for the 2022 Breakthrough Junior Challenge, sponsored by Khan Academy. The semi-finalists were selected out of a pool of more than 1,000Ìýapplicants.

A startup company founded by a À¶Ý®ÊÓÆµ Engineering professor and two of his graduate students has won US $250,000 to expand and commercialize green technology for the packaging industry.
