Ever wonder why people seem to be ignoring your emails?

The first formalized study of “email deferral” in the workplace, conducted by a University of ݮƵ PhD candidate, outlines the primary reasons people tend to put off responding to online correspondence.

The Faculty of Mathematics recognizes six graduate students for their outstanding research papers. Andrew Giuliani in the Department of Applied Mathematics, Stefan Sremac in the Department of Combinatorics and Optimization, Ruizhang Jin in the Department of Pure Mathematics, Rui Qiao in the Department of Statistics and Actuarial Science, and Nik Unger and Ahmed Alquraan from the David R.

Professor Robin Cohen is one of four faculty members to receive a 2019 Distinguished Teacher Award, the University of ݮƵ’s most prestigious honour for teaching excellence. The Distinguished Teacher Awards will be presented by Mario Coniglio, associate vice-president, academic, at the June convocation ceremony.

PhD student Caelan Wang, is a recipient of an Amit and Meena Chakma Award for Exceptional Teaching by a Student for 2019. Four awards are given annually in recognition of excellence in teaching of all kinds by registered students (e.g., teaching assistant, laboratory demonstrator, sessional lecturer). The Selection Committee considers intellectual vigour and communication skills in the interpretation and presentation of subject matter.

The Department of Statistics and Actuarial Science congratulates the University of ݮƵ Team, consisting of Ryan Goldford, Jasmine Sirohi, Adaijah Wilson, and Jillian Zhu Ge, for winning the 2019 . Read the full story.
