Five University of À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ students have teamed up with Google to develop software to accelerate machine learning using quantum science.

The collaborative effort resulted in the creation of an open-source hybrid quantum-classical machine learning software platform, called TensorFlow Quantum.

Computer scientists at the University of À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ have found a novel approach that significantly improves the storage efficiency and output speed of computer systems.

Current data storage systems use only one storage server to process information, making them slow to retrieve information to display for the user. A backup server only becomes active if the main storage server fails.

They won’t graduate until next spring, but their startup has already taken flight.

The five founders of recently earned a spot in the University of À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ’s $5K Finals, where they explained their business model to a panel of judges alongside nine other student teams.

Attributing lifelike qualities to virtual assistants could cause people to reveal more personal information to the companies that own them than they otherwise would, according to a new study.

Researchers at the University of À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ, who conducted the study, found that people tend to increase their sharing with online agents such as Alexa, Google Assistant and Siri, due to their tendency to assign them personalities and physical features such as age, facial expressions and hairstyles.

Almost daily, scientists release another study documenting the growing influence of human-caused global warming. Driven by ever-increasing amounts of greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, mostly from coal, oil and natural gas we burn for energy, the Earth’s average surface temperature has risen by almost 1ºC since the late 19thcentury, with much greater increases predicted ahead.
