Jun Liu and Karen Yeats recognized for research excellence

Faculty members Jun Liu and Karen Yeats have been named Canada Research Chairs, as part of the Government of Canada’s - Canada Research Chairs Program. Jun is chairholder for his work in Hybrid Systems and Control, and Karen is chairholder for her work in Combinatorics of Quantum Field Theory.

The University of À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ team did extremely well in the , finishing in 4th place.

What is it? An open and online teaching and learning platform. On-screen text with synchronized audio and interactive investigations teach the concepts from Grade 12 Advanced Functions (Pre-Calculus) and Grade 12 Calculus and Vectors.

Congratulations to the À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) team - students Tyson Andre, Benoit Maurin, and Anton Raichuk with coach Professor Ondrej Lhotak - on their bronze medal at the 2012 ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) World Finals!

The competition was held in Warsaw, Poland. 

When the University of À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ dedicated the atrium of the new Mathematics 3 building this week, the name of the generous donor who helped make it possible wasn’t on it. He wanted his high school math teacher to have that honour instead. Bruce White is a retired educator who taught Mathematics at Vincent Massey Secondary School in Windsor, Ontario. He is a recipient of the Prime Minister’s Award for Teaching Excellence and the University of À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ’s Descartes Award for Outstanding Teaching in High School Mathematics.
