Research conducted by recent computer science master’s graduate  received a Best Student Paper award at , the flagship conference of the Association for Computing Machinery’s special interest group for the computer systems performance evaluation community.

Danish Farid, a Master of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (MDSAI) student, likes to keep his options open in many aspects of his life. While working an 8-month co-op at Huawei Technologies Canada, one of the things he appreciated most was being able to move between teams to observe and participate in the different types of work each one focused on. 

2021 graduates Spencer Whitehead (BMath ’21) and Robert Cummings (BMath ’21) have been awarded the Alumni Gold Medal and Governor General’s Silver Medal, respectively.

Starting Friday, April 30th at noon, 127 ��ݮ��Ƶ undergraduate students found themselves knee-deep in data for 48 hours at the University of ��ݮ��Ƶ’s 2021 American Statistical Association (ASA) DataFest.

When Sacha Tihanyi was halfway through an undergraduate economics degree at Laurentian University, he recognized a budding passion for mathematics. “I had many broad interests in school, but something flipped for me during that program, and I knew I needed to do a whole different degree focused on math,” he remembered. “I chose ��ݮ��Ƶ because it had a reputation as the best mathematics school in Canada.”

Dr. Zack Cramer, a Lecturer in the Mathematics Undergraduate Group within the Faculty of Mathematics, receives the . This award is presented yearly by the ��ݮ��Ƶ Undergraduate Student Association (WUSA) to professors who have demonstrated outstanding contributions to undergraduate student learning.

When Chris Salahub learned he could explore his passion for data in a dedicated math faculty at ��ݮ��Ƶ, the high schooler had an easy decision to make. Just two years after graduation, when he was on the verge of finishing a master’s degree in Switzerland, he decided to return for a second degree. “About halfway through my master’s, I realized I wanted to do a PhD,” he remembered. “It just made sense to go back to ��ݮ��Ƶ because I had discovered such a supportive community there.”
