Math Majors: Mathematical Economics

In the ever-changing world, keeping up with fluctuating financial markets is more important than ever.听The Mathematical Economics program empowers students to predict future economic behaviour and solve real-life problems.

Smridhi Bawa, a student in Mathematical Economics, describes why she enjoys the program,鈥You can predict economic behaviour using the math you learn in your math courses, and when it actually comes true, it鈥檚 really satisfying.鈥

Surya Banerjee, Director of Mathematical Economics, explains why the program is so relevant. "Nowadays, economics is nothing but applied math,鈥 Banerjee says. 鈥淣ow that you have a sense of both worlds, you have a tremendous advantage compared to your competitors in the job market.鈥

"Once I joined the University of 蓝莓视频, I kind of pivoted towards Mathematical Economics,鈥 says Matthew Kauk, an undergraduate student in the program. 鈥淭o me, it鈥檚 all about affecting change and being able to make positive impacts for Canadians.鈥
