Mitacs Globalink Research Award (Quantum Stream) webinar

Online webinar through

The University of À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ and Mitacs will be holding a joint webinar onÌýThursday, November 23rdÌýat 10amÌýto share information about their newÌý, which provides fundingÌýfor bilateral student travelÌýwith international university labs.

In this session, Amanda Green and Etienne Pineault, Senior Advisors with Mitacs, will provide information and updates on how to leverage Mitacs funding to build collaborative research projects with international university partners.Ìý

Following the presentation, we will answer your questions about finding a partner, deciding on Mitacs eligibility and navigating program requirements (including how to work with our team to submit successful funding applications). Exploring by the Seat of Your Pants: Photons in Space

In celebration of the International Day of Light on May 16th, Dr. Katanya Kuntz from the IQC will be joiningÌýÌýto talk about what light is really made of, how to catch a photon in the sky, and how this technology can be used to keep our communication safe and secure. Katanya coordinates the Science Team for the Quantum Encryption and Science Satellite (QEYSSat) mission, which is building a satellite that can detect individual particles of light called photons sent from the ground to outer space.

Exploring by the Seat of Your Pants: Experiments in the Quantum Realm

Quantum mechanics helps us understand what happens below what a microscope can see, describing the world of atoms, electrons, photons, and more. In celebration of World Quantum Day on April 14th, Dr. John Donohue from the Institute for Quantum Computing will sit down with to explore quantum science and its applications, from light particles and electron waves to superconductors and quantum computers.

Bystander Training

IQC will be hosting a training session open to current IQC staff, faculty and research assistant professors.

BystanderÌýIntervention can help create a sense of belonging, care, and respect within our communities. The Sexual Violence Prevention & Response Office (SVPRO) is conducting training across the UÀ¶Ý®ÊÓƵ campus to provide skills and resources to help people intervene when they see a harmful, or potentially harmful, situation.ÌýÌý
