Dental benefits will be eligible if they are necessary for the prevention of dental disease or treatment of dental disease or injury and reimbursement will be limited to the amount stated in the Provincial Dental Association Fee Guide.

Coverage is divided into four categories:Ìý

  1. Basic services*.Ìý
  2. Comprehensive basic servicesÌý
  3. Major services*; andÌý
  4. Orthodontic services*.Ìý

Alternate Benefit ClauseÌýÌý

This benefit plan will reimburse the amount shown in the Fee Guide for the least expensive service or supply where two or more professionally accepted courses of treatment are a benefit under the plan. The covered person can choose to have a more expensive treatment performed; however, reimbursement will be limited to the cost of the least expensive alternative.Ìý

Predetermination of Coverage

In the event that you expect any significant extended health or dental expenses, it is advisable to submit a cost estimate/predetermination to GreenShield to confirm how much you can expect to be reimbursed.

To determine if a specific medication/treatment will be covered by our plan, we advise you to:

  • ask your practitionerÌýto submit a predetermination*, or

*Ìý Procedure coverage and reimbursement amounts will be communicated by GreenShield directly to the member.
