The University of À¶Ý®ÊÓÆµ is pleased to be a participating institution with the Government of Brazil Doctoral Scholarship Program through the CNPq (the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development) scholarship program.
The University of À¶Ý®ÊÓÆµ is a member of the consortium, an association of Canada’s leading research universities committed to international education. CALDO is currently working with these Latin American countries: Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Mexico, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, and Panama.
Scholarship overview
To promote long-term collaboration and exchange in graduate education, CNPq and CALDO Member Universities agree to establish a graduate coÂ-funding program ("CGFP") for Brazilian doctoral students to study and conduct research at a CALDO Member University with funding provided jointly through CNPq and the CALDO Member University.
What does the CNPq scholarship cover?
- Return airfare.
- Domestic tuition and academic fees, including the application fee.
- A living allowance per CNPq's established norms for students studying abroad for up to four years of study.
- University Health Insurance Plan (UHIP).
Eligible program(s)
- Doctoral studies for up to 4 (four) years.
Doctoral funding
- The scholarship provides full funding (including tuition and fees, health insurance (UHIP) and living allowance/stipend) for doctoral programs for 4 years or 12 academic terms.
- Domestic tuition will be assessed.
English for Academic Success (EFAS)
- Not covered under this agreement.

- Applicants apply to CNPq, including À¶Ý®ÊÓÆµ's Offer of Admission in their application package.
- CNPq confirms the scholarship.
Applying to À¶Ý®ÊÓÆµ
- Minimum admission requirements include a minimum 7.5/ B overall GPA. Some programs may require a higher average.
- Certification ofÌýEnglish language proficiency (ELP)Ìýthrough one of the accepted examinations is required.

- Some agreements provide a preliminary sponsorship or scholarship letter, if applicable, email a PDF copy toÌýan admissions specialist. Remember toÌýinclude your full name and your 8 digit (numerical only) À¶Ý®ÊÓÆµ student ID number.
Important
- The sponsorship documentation must detail the approved program, financial support amount and the number of years the funding has been granted (minimum of four years for a PhD program).
- Please refer toÌýArranging your fees with a third-party sponsorshipÌýon the Finance website forÌýthe information required in the official sponsorship documentation.ÌýIf there is any change in your funding situation, the University of À¶Ý®ÊÓÆµ may re-evaluate your Offer of Admission, and reserves the right to withdraw yourÌýOffer of Admission or withdraw you from your graduate program.
