Clinical psychology training provides minimal exposure to 鈥渇amily鈥 therapy, reflecting a major training gap, and impeding the capacity for student clinicians to engage effectively when encountering families in clinical settings. To overcome these limitations, graduate-level psychology students will interact with theatre students who have theatrically formed into a family during a "simulated patient" type exercise, which is common in professional programs. Clinical psychology students will complete weekly self-report measures about student engagement and counselling self-efficacy. We expect that student engagement and counselling self-efficacy will increase over the course of this family therapy training program.
