A panel of retirees (Nancy Theberge, Kinesiology, retired 2014;Mary Thompson, Statistics and Actuarial Science, 2009; Rohan Jayasundera, Physics & Astronomy, 2019; and Alan Macnaughton, Accounting & Finance, 2019) will share their experiences and advice on preparing for and making the most of retirement. Beth Jewkes will moderate the panel.

Faculty and Staff LGBTQ2S+ Coffee

The Working Group on Sexual and Gender Diversity is hostinga follow-up to the last term's lunch event in the form of an informal drop-in coffee event for LGBTQ2S+ faculty and staff,including postdoctoral researchers, sessional instructors, research professors, and other employee groups at UW!

This is a drop-in, so don't feel pressured to be there for the whole time, but feel free to come when you can, grab some coffee, and hopefully meet some new people! Coffee should be arriving shortly after 2:00 p.m.

New Faculty Social

This is a really strange time to be starting a new job. It's hard to meet fellownew faculty in other partsofݮƵ at any time, but this year is even harder. To help combat the isolation, the Faculty Associationinvites new faculty members to gather on Zoom this summer to meet colleagues from across campus who are also going through this experience.

A conversation about Indigenizing annual performance reviews

Join the FAUW Indigenization Working Group for an informal discussion about Indigenizing performance reviews. The IndigenizationWorking Group aims to help faculty members better understand and take action on Indigenization and reconciliation efforts. As departments revise Annual Performance Review (APR) guidelines this fall, the Working Group has been surveying how other universities address the uniqueness of Indigenous scholarship and research in performance evaluations.

This year's new faculty orientation is a series of online synchronous panel sessions, along with a virtual resource fair and a break-out session for lecturers.The virtual resource fair will give you the opportunity to visit any one or all of five virtual “rooms” to chat with representatives from a wide range of campus resources.
