Recent MASc graduate Talal Alharbi and his supervisor Professor Kankar Bhattacharya received a Best Conference Paper Award for their paper, “Optimal Energy Management and Smart Charging of PEVs in Isolated Microgrids”, at the (EPEC) held in October 2015 at London, Ontario, Canada.

ECE professor Werner Dietl delivered three talks at the recent conference in conjunction with professor Michael Ernst from the University of Washington.

ECE professor Sherman Shen has been selected as the recipient of the for Exemplary Service to Publications. The citation will read: “For outstanding service as Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Network and as a Founding Area Editor of IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications.”

ECE professor Ravi Mazumdar and his PhD student Arpan Mukhopadhyay are co-authors of a paper that received the best paper award at Performance 2015 just concluded in Sydney, Australia. Performance along with Sigmetrics is the top conference for the performance modeling and evaluation community. Another co-author (A. Karthik) was recent post-doc in our department. The paper is titled "Mean Field and Propagation of Chaos in Multi-Class Heterogeneous Loss Models for Cloud Applications" by Arpan Mukhopadhyay, A. Karthik, Ravi R. Mazumdar, Fabrice Guillemin.

A research paper published in the Journal of Renewable Energy by PhD student Omar Hafez and Professor Kankar Bhattacharya was selected for one of the 2015 Renewable Energy Top Paper awards by Elsevier Publications.  The award is based on the number of Web of Science citations received until 2014.

The other co-author is Dr. F. Guillemin of Orange Labs, France. The paper is titled "The Power of Randomized Routing in Heterogeneous Loss System".
