Grants are available to full-time Faculty of Arts graduate students enrolled in the Industrial/Organization program in the Department of Psychology at the University of À¶Ý®ÊÓÆµ who are in their first year and wish to participate in a research/academic conference. Eligible activities for this award include travel, accommodation, and registration fees for conferences (ideally the Academy of Management conference, the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology conference, or the Canadian Psychological Association conference). Applications will be accepted in December and April. Students will apply via a short online application form.

Eligibility & selection criteria

  • Full-time graduate students enrolled in the master's or doctoral Industrial/Organization program in the Department of Psychology in the Faculty of Arts at the University of À¶Ý®ÊÓÆµ
  • Students must be in their first year of their graduate program
  • Interested students must complete and submit a short online application to the Department of Psychology, with the student outlining the proposal, budget, and expected outcomes of their conference activity.
  • The student's supervisor and the Associate Chair Graduate Affairs, Department of Psychology or designate must approve the application.
    • Activities for consideration may include travel, accommodation, and/or conference registration fees
  • Application deadlines are December 1st for the winter term, and April 1st for the spring term.
  • The application adjudication will be administered by the Administrative Co-ordinator, Graduate Studies, Department of Psychology, and the Associate Chair Graduate Affairs makes the final decision.
  • The value of the grant will be determined by Associate Chair Graduate Affairs, Department of Psychology or designate up to a maximum of $1,000, which is the total amount available annually.
  • Preference will be given to students who attend either the Academy of Management conference, the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology conference, or the Canadian Psychological Association conference.
  • Funds will be provided after the conference through the submission of a travel claim as per UW Policy 31.
  • Preference will be given to students who have not previously received this grant.
