Award description:
An award, valued at $3,000, will be awarded annually to a full-time domestic graduate student who is registered in any research-based Master’s or Doctoral program (excluding Architecture) in the Faculty of Engineering. Selection will be based on academic excellence and research excellence and the contributions students have made in advancing research in their field.

A committee comprised of representatives from the Faculty of Engineering Graduate Studies Office will select recipients annually based on nominations received from the departments. This fund is made possible by a donation from David Gerard Conroy (BASc ’77) and Lynn Cope Conroy (BSc ’77) to empower the next generation to achieve academic and professional success.

Eligibility & selection criteria:

  • Full-time graduate students who are registered in any research-based Master’s or Doctoral program (excluding Architecture) in the Faculty of Engineering.
  • Student must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada.
  • Selection to be based on academic excellence (minimum cumulative average of 80% or equivalent) and research excellence and the contributions they have made in advancing research in their field.
  • This funding is awarded in addition to the minimum funding the student may already be receiving.
  • Preference will be given to students who do not concurrently hold a major scholarship at the time of admission.
  • When the endowment can sustain renewable awards, subsequent instalments will be contingent upon maintaining good academic standing (as defined by the recipient's academic program) and full-time enrollment in the research-based program in the Faculty of Engineering.
  • Based on nominations from the departments, a committee comprised of representatives from the Faculty of Engineering Graduate Studies Office will select recipients annually, normally each Fall.
