A team from the University of À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ’s department of Chemical Engineering earned second place in the '²õÌý. The award was announced during the U.S. Department of Energy’s Annual Merit Review in Washington, DC.
This international competition included 27 teams from around the world, all working to design a Power-to-Gas system for cross market uses, including energy storage, ancillary services and transportation fuel. The winning À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ team, comprised of students Sami Barbouti, Ehsan Haghi, Ushnik Mukherjee, Nick Preston, Hassan Riaz, Peter Tang and Javan Wang, was mentored by Professor Michael Fowler and Dr. Azadeh Maroufmashat.
Professor of chemical engineering Costas Tzoganakis and University of À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ startup are poised to change the way the world handles its scrap tires. Judging by their recent collection of awards, their innovative, sustainable technology is getting noticed.
A big congratulations to PhD candidate Gregory Lui for his exciting achievements at the . He made UÀ¶Ý®ÊÓƵ and the department of Chemical Engineering proud with his engaging and informative summary of his photocatalysis research. The 3MT judges and audience were impressed too – he headed back to À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ with a second place finish and the People’s Choice award.
Congratulations to Gregory Lui, who is completing his PhD in Chemical Engineering at University of À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ, for winning the University’s Three Minute Thesis (3MT) competition. 3MT is an international research communication competition in which graduate students have three minutes to distill their research into a presentation that is both understandable and engaging to a non-technical audience.
Forty-one teams of fourth-year chemical engineering students presented the results of their Capstone Design projects at the annual Capstone Design Symposium, which was held March 12th in the atrium of Engineering 6. In the process of sharing their research, they demonstrated the diverse and creative nature of chemical engineering and the promise it holds for future generations.
Congratulations to fourth-year chemical engineering students Jack Anderson, Skylar Bone, Olsi Goxhaj and Kien Tran. Their Capstone Design team, Green Sorbs, won first prize in the Ontario Engineering Competition, which was held at the University of Ottawa in January.
Congratulations to the graduateÌýstudents in Chemical Engineering for winning in the 3 minute Thesis on Thursday, February 16, 2017.Ìý
Prof. Boxin Zhao's bio-inspired "pick and place" technology was highlighted by the university. This research involves the integration of biomimetic "smart" adhesives and functional materials based on liquid crystalline networks. In his own words,
Prof. Aucoin's career was highlighted inÌýthe Ontario Society of Professional Engineers (OSPE) . The article entitled "Who’s in control? Meet the chemical engineer challenging the cell"Ìýcan be found .
